Challenge:
A Taiwanese student needed to learn American business English
A business university graduate in Taiwan planned to work in the U.S. He had good basic English skills but little knowledge of American business English. He wanted to develop these skills prior to his coming to the U.S. so he contacted us.

Solution:
He received one-on-one language instruction from U.S. to Taiwan

For months, with us in the U.S. and him in Taiwan, we worked with him via e-mail and Voice Internet to develop the necessary skills that enabled him to handle job interviews and develop confidence to work in the U.S. He presently has a staff position with a large technology company in California.

Challenge:
An engineer from Russia needed to improve her English skills

A chemical engineer, originally from Russia and working for a company in New York City, possessed technical skills far more advanced than her colleagues. However, she realized that because of her lack of sufficient verbal and written English language skills, she was not effectively sharing her expertise with the members of her project team and was being held back from career advancement.

Solution:
She received individual lessons in building language skills
She worked face-to-face with our instructor for one hour each week before she started her workday and two hours on two separate days on the phone with the instructor during her lunch hour, from a conference room in her office. This intense instruction significantly improved her language skills, accent reduction, and increased her confidence. She now successfully manages her own project team for this company.

A Japanese Website developer needed to conduct day-to-day business in the U.S.

Solution:
She now takes English lessons on two continents
Since she regularly travels to and from New York and Tokyo, we have developed a lesson schedule (with the consideration of time differences) and continue to work with her via telephone, e-mail and Voice Internet as well as face-to-face in New York.

Challenge:
A Brazilian executive needed to improve her business-writing skills
When she was re-located to the U.S. by her company, she came to us to improve her written English.

Solution:
She takes weekly writing instruction

With a face-to-face lesson one day each week in our office during her lunch hour, and supplemented via e-mail interactions, she has been working with us to improve her writing, pronunciation, and vocabulary skills. She has mentioned many times how much the improvement in these skills has enhanced her career.

Challenge:
German consultants needed to learn American business language and culture

Four German management consultants came to New York with a plan to build a U.S. consulting business. However, they had limited knowledge of American business language and practices.

Solution:
They participated in custom-designed intense group sessions
During a two-week period in New York, individual and group sessions were designed around role-playing. This included instruction in writing business letters, telephone and e-mail writing techniques, creating and presenting new business proposals, pronunciation, handling business social situations, business slang and idioms. These consultants are now sending other members of their organization to us for similar orientation and training sessions.

A Chinese doctor needed to improve his English to work in the U.S.
A private New York City hospital wanted to bring a leading Chinese orthopedic specialist on staff. However, his English skills were insufficient to pass the U.S. medical accreditation exam and to deal with patients on a day-to-day basis.

Solution:
He received an individualized intense program to build his language skills
We focused on grammar, medical vocabulary, and pronunciation, as well as oral and reading comprehension. He studied with us twenty hours a week for nine weeks which enabled him to develop the skills and confidence he needed. On his first try, he passed the exam and is now practicing orthopedics on staff at that hospital.

Challenge:
A Japanese executive needed to master business techniques and overcome relocation shock
A major Japanese appliance manufacturer assigned their home office marketing expert to supervise upcoming product introductions in the U.S. Neither he nor his family had ever lived in the U.S. before. In addition, he lacked experience in American business presentation techniques and business culture.

Solution:
He and his family received intensive instruction in language and American culture
For two weeks, in his own New York office conference room, we taught the executive business English and trained him in American business practices. We expanded his business vocabulary specific to his industry, simulated meetings, sales calls, and business presentations.
In addition, during two weeks of evening sessions, we met with him and his entire family, focusing on American social customs and colloquial American English.
Enthusiastic about the new knowledge he and his family gained, he has since referred other visiting colleagues to us
